The Sadist – 生理用品 / させ子 7“

The Sadist released their second and final 7“ in 1989, and it’s a disturbing piece of music. I guess I’m kind of glad I don’t understand the lyrics. The song on side a called Sanitary Products, starting out with church bells and a woman’s cries, which could sound sexual, anguished, despairing or most likely all of them? The song on side b called Whore? The cover artwork? Is it an allusion/homage to The Stalin’s Dendou Kokeshi?

Musically both songs are an atonal mix of Masturbation/Transformer/Aka, with faster beats, a drum machine, and with some noise thrown in. The crass and disturbing sexual themes of the songs and the cover artwork would later on be even more obvious in mastermind Yamazaki’s work as Masonna. Oof.

The Sadist – Onapet 7“

Before Maso Yamazaki started making noise music, he was the singer in The Sadist. They played simple, kinda atonal punk rock, and -judging from the band’s name, their song and album titles- had their feet planted firmly in the realm of the perverted, disgusting and unsettling. This is their first 7“, released in 1986 on MCR Company.

Onapetto: a fantasy object for masturbation. Hmm.
