Gasmask + Coward – Split LP

Although not cheap itself, this split LP from 2002 on Crust War will save you easily over 1000$, if you chose it over the original 7“es. Coward from Osaka released their sole 3-track flexi in 1986, which was a truly monumental statement in lightning fast, antisocial and insane rawpunk. It’s hard to make out whether the guitarist ever plays an actual chord, you’ll have to rely on the huge, distorted bass if you want to hum along. Also included are compilation tracks and live recordings.

Gasmask, also from Osaka, released their only 7“ in 1985. Primitive and brutal, it is slower, more stomping and less chaotic than Coward’s. Their singer growls, chokes and gurgles like a 60 year old chainsmoker. There’s also live tracks and unlreleased recordings of theirs. Lastly this LP includes songs of „Gasward“ and „Cowmask“, who were supposedly collaborations of both bands.
