Sheena & The Rokkets – You May Dream 7“

The second 7“ by Mentai Rock legends Sheena & The Rokkets, released in 1979. The title track is a dreamy (yeah, what did you expect?) new wave number, also perfect for dancing the slow dance on a wonderful summer evening in Fukuoka (which would probably be about 35°C and as such not wonderful at all to me…). Lazy Crazy Blues on the b-side doesn’t really work for me, but the a-side kills, wonderfully and beautifully!

Does your heart grow hot, too, listening to these songs?

Sheena & The Rokkets – #1 LP

Here comes Mentai Rock legend Sheena And The Rokkets’ 1979 debut LP, appropriately titled #1. The music is of course less punk than new wave rock (here too with a bit of a 50s influence), but the opener Highway Of Tears is such a driving, stomping and heart-thumping punk rock number you just wanna put on a moth-eaten Oxfam jacket, bounce around your room and gob at your parents! No wait, that would have been the UK… No idea what the punk kids in Fukuoka did.
This version of the LP is a later pressing from the mid-eighties with a different song order and one extra track.

Enjoy!

Sheena & The Rokkets – Kiss Me Quick + 恋のムーンライト・ダンス 7“

Here comes one of Mentai Rock legend Sheena And The Rokkets’ earlier (well, 1980) singles, with two lovely new wave numbers. In my opinion, the b-side „Love’s Moonlight Dance“ is the winner of these two. Listening to it, you can just see love-sick teenagers, doing that awkward slow dance under a bright Fukuoka moon, haha…

No idea if the lyrics are appropriate for that, though.
