Worshipping japanese hardcore since the day before yesterday!
Oh my, this awesome band with their penchant for disturbing cover artwork that a friend and I are hooked on and whom we prefer to call „the group ‘bosom’“ because of their somewhat less awesome name! Their first 12“ from 2019 (whose title can be translated roughly as „the pleasure patient“) is another bomb with a payload of vacuum cleaners running wild, so if you are into wild japanese raw punk, get it from these good looking spiky tokyoites!
No idea what the nightmare of Kyūshū is (as a heat sensitive wimp, to me it would be its climate), but these guys here claim it’s not over? This 7“ comp from 2015 has 6 tracks by six bands (Decide, Perverse, End Of Pollution, Crudia, Unequal Reality and ADA), with lots of thrash, crust and raw punk, mostly played at breakneck speed. The last track by ADA definitely stands out, with its slower pace, melodies and its style more like melancholy political hardcore.
Death Side’s 2nd LP, released in 1991, is simply one of THE best japanese hardcore albums. The album is more refined than Wasted Dream: the tempos are slower (well, a bit maybe!), the songs are a lot heavier and more metallic, the production is tighter, and with „Burning Spirit“ it’s got the title track of an entire musical genre!
Btw. this is the early 2010s bootleg version of the album, neither the original nor the official re-release on Feral Ward.
Border Line from 1987 was Gasatsu’s / The 我殺 Rude Beats’ last vinyl release (compilation tracks aside, also there were later releases on CD as well). On this 7“ their style is less hardcore, but more punk with lots of Oi! and rock thrown in. I don’t know if this description gets the point across, but I liked their earlier 7“ and the tracks on Neo Punk Disordery better.
Although it’s called Skatehead ’88, Rose Rose -together with Dogma Records- dropped this bomb of a 7″ in ’87. There’s a lot of influence by D.R.I. and other contemporary crossover thrashers, so don’t you expect any subtlety or slow tempos on this fucker here!
