Solvent Cobalt from Tōkyō released this 12“ ep in early 2020, right before everything went to shit, haha. As is fitting for a soundtrack to the worst year ever, the music here is cold, cold, cold. Post punk may be the most appropriate label, but there is no subtle, thoughtful melancholy on this record. With a loud drum machine, a distorted bass, lots of synth noise and even more reverb on the vocals, their sound on the first two tracks is downright brutal. The two songs on side B are very different, they’re more minimalist, electronic and experimental.
