
Early Friction are definitely one of my favourites japanese punk rock. This live 10“ of theirs has nine tracks, recorded in Kyōto in 1979. All the songs appear either on their first 7“, their I Can Tell/Pistol 7″, the 東京 Rockers compilation LP or on their first LP 軋轢. But, especially compared to the versions on the album, these live recordings are a lot more punk than the cold, controlled post punk recorded in the studio. This is noisy, wild, powerful, incredible (not that the album versions aren’t great!). The sound quality is okay, definitely not clean, but who gives a fuck about that? Not me.
